History

In 1997 while attending classes to become a registered counselor and hypnotherapist I had a vision. I shared this vision with my daughter Lacy, who was attending massage school. Together, we saw a wellness center serving the community with complementary services like acupuncture, massage therapy, holistic healing and counseling. The vision grew to include classes for physical, personal and spiritual growth. The vision provided a space and a support system for new practitioners to begin their practice. The vision grew into a mission statement:

To Act As A Resource Center
To Encourage Personal Growth, Wellness, Spirituality, and Community
To Offer Complementary Health Care, Educational, and Career Opportunities
To Work With The Medical And Psychological Community
To Be A Support System And A Vital Link For All Who Come To Avalon

The vision needed to have form, so we began to visualize the property which would become the wellness center. I saw a large house located within 5 minutes of the freeway in Marysville. This location would provide access from several areas with a one hour drive time. There would be room for parking and room for expansion. There would be mature cedar trees which would provide shade and protection. This property would be magical. Lacy and I set the intention on this vision and shared it with close friends and relatives. My daughter, Leesa, actually found the property on the multiple listing service. When I walked through, I knew it was perfect and Lacy agreed. An offer to purchase was accepted and we were on our way to a new adventure. The center needed a name. After struggling with this for some time we quit thinking about it. One night I was watching the mini series Merlin and every time Avalon was mentioned I got a chill. Avalon, the place of healing. And so, inspired by Merlin the name became Avalon Wellness Center. “If you build it they will come” and they did. Avalon has been evolving and growing since it was founded in 1998. The Avalon Academy, state licensed vocational school, was founded in the year 2000. It continues to prosper and provide quality classes for personal and professional growth.

My personal life has transformed also. I found my soul mate or maybe he found me.

Jody and I were married on Valentines Day, 2005. Jody now shares my vision and together we are taking this adventure to the next level!!
